Befriending and Mentoring

Family Resource Centre UK has been providing befriending and mentoring programmes to children and young people with special needs for many years now, no matter what their special need or disability.
Family Resource Centre UK already works with many families to provide a fantastic group of events and activities for children and young people with disabilities.
The positive impact of the activities and events on these families and children is phenomenal and here at the charity, we want to continue to create lasting happy memories for all children and young people no matter what their special need or disability. Having a befriender or a buddy could help provide free time for other full time carers to rest and provide a different stimulating change for the person being taken out, or looked after for a period of time.
Having the support of a volunteer to take children and young people with special needs out into the community, and access mainstream leisure activities like their peers, has a very positive impact.
We are pleased to be providing a befriending service in Basingstoke.

Community Buddies is a new service provided through the Hampshire County Council's short breaks programme.
Every year we help thousands of families with advice and guidance and provide events to children with disabilities and to families providing happy childhood memories. Having support from a volunteer can mean so much to the families and children we reach with our projects.
There are many ways you can help us here at Family Resource Centre UK; you could volunteer some of your time, donate, you could take up a challenge or get involved in an event, you could even get your school or university involved, or get your company involved.
